We have loved learning our folk song repertoire this term, and no piece more than Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending which is the centrepiece of our programme. The interplay of chorus, solo voices and violin shines through, and the combination of folk melodies and birdsong is complemented perfectly by the setting of the stanza quoted by Vaughan Williams himself on the flyleaf of the score.
Looking ahead: Chandos on tour
Croatia 27-31 May 2026
We know that the community of Chandos Chamber Choir followers stretches far and wide, and we even heard recently from a fan in Nova Scotia. With this in mind, we are delighted to be travelling to Poreč in Croatia in late May to perform concerts in Poreč itself, as well as Groznjan and Vrsar. We will be delighted to reconnect with old friends and make new ones too.
